My Story
How I started playing squash:
I started playing squash at the age of 5 years old after being introduced to squash because my brother played the sport. My first home club was Herts Country Club, in Hertfordshire which was a huge part of the sport 20+ years ago as it regularly held professional and junior tournaments.
After falling in love with the game, I was down at the squash club as much as I could and started competing in junior events from the age of 11. After my first competition, where I finished runner-up, I was hooked on playing tournaments and continued competing in every junior age group, as well as representing England throughout my junior career.
Where I’m based now:
My training is centred around Berkhamsted squash club which has been my home club since the age of 13. The club is one of the England Squash’s five performance hubs, with Berkhamsted being led by Adam Fuller and Paul Carter, both of whom are my coaches.
I also utilise the facilities at the University of Hertfordshire, in the Performance gym which is where I access world class facilities and have a personalised S&C programme by my fitness coach, Fiona Scott.
My team:
Squash- Adam Fuller and Wael El Hindi
Fitness- Fiona Scott, Performance Hertfordshire
Physio- Tessa Adams, Bodybalance
Aspirations:
I have big goals that I want to achieve in my squash career, some smaller ones that I have ticked off already, such as reaching the top 50 in the world rankings and winning a PSA title.
A few other goals that I want to achieve during my career are:
Short term- I want to finish the season (each squash season runs from September to June) at my highest world ranking by pushing into the top 45 in the rankings.
Medium term (1-3 years)- I want to be pushing into the top 20 in the world rankings, compete at the next Commonwealth Games and represent England in team events such as the European and World championships.
Long term (3+ years)- I want to establish myself in the top 10 in the world rankings. Now that squash is an Olympic sport, I am aiming to represent GB at the LA 2028 Olympics.
